Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones Divorce?
Rumors has it that 13 year union between Oscar winners Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones is on life support. Britain’s The Mirror first spilled the scoop on trouble in paradise earlier this month, now People magazine has gotten its hands on celebrity snitches who say the throat cancer survivor and his Welsh-born bride are “on a break.”
Apparently, the stress of Michael’s cancer diagnosis and Catherine battle with bipolar disorder — which has resulted in at least two trips to rehab in the past two years — has finally taken its toll.
Michael, 68, was snapped last week on a boat in Sardinia still wearing his wedding ring. Catherine was nowhere to be seen. The couple, in fact, hasn’t been spotted together for four months.
“Michael is going to announce the split soon. Catherine is fighting to save the marriage, but he’s had it.”
An insider told Grazia magazine that the pair could stay together for the well-being of their two children, 13-year-old Dylan Michael and Carys Zeta, 10.
“Divorce would be the final straw. It would be too damaging for the children and a strain on both of them emotionally and health wise.”
UPDATE: Zeta-Jones’ publicist, Cece Yorke confirmed split whispers in a statement Wednesday:
“Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage. There will be no further comment.”
