Lensman Michael Bay is beginning to wonder if perhaps live, public speaking isn’t really his “thing” after a live presentation at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) left the Transformers director caught off guard by technical difficulties, ultimately causing him to exit the stage expectedly.
The Las Vegas presentation was intended to launch Samsung’s 105-inch curved television screens. An exclusive preview of the upcoming fourth installment of the Transformers series would have followed. Things took an unexpected turn, however, when Bay’s teleprompter malfunctioned.
“Let’s just wing this. We, we’ll just wing this right now. The type is all off…Sorry,” Michael said moments before making an awkward exit in front of a very packed audience.
Michael took to his blog to explain his side of things, saying:
“Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES — I was about to speak for Samsung for this awesome Curved 105-inch UHD TV. I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar. I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP’s intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down — then I walked off. I guess live shows aren’t my thing.”
