M.I.A. Coachella Festival 2009
In her first public appearance since her heavily-pregnant performance at the 2009 Grammys, Oscar-nominated Sri Lankan rapper M.I.A. has been booked for the second night of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival on April 18.
The “Paper Plane” hitmaker will replace British star Amy Winehouse, who was forced to drop out of the fest after her application for a U.S. Visa was rejected earlier this month due to legal troubles.
This won’t be M.I.A.’s first Coachella showing. The vet played the fest in 2005 and 2008.
The Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival takes place at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, Calif. April 17-19.
