Producers for the 2009 Academy Awards are so eager to get new mom M.I.A. onstage for Sunday night’s ceremony, they’ve offered her the extraordinary opportunity to sing at the Oscars from the comfort of her own bed.

The Sri Lankan rap star gave birth to a baby boy last week.

M.I.A., 31, is expected to perform “O, Saya,” a song, featured in the indie hit Slumdog Millionaire, that earned her a nomination for Best Original Song.

“She’s eager to perform. We’ve said things like, ‘We’re willing to have her enter on a large bed,” producer Laurence Mark has revealed to MSNBC’s The Scoop. “We’ll make it as easy for her as we can.”
