Meryl Streep is regarded by many movie buffs to be one of the best actresses that has ever graced the silver screen — and the Hollywood legend attributes most of that success to not caring about how attractive she is.

The 60-year-old says she is successful because she invests her full interest in performing without much regard for how she looks.

“I can’t remember the last time I really worried about being appealing,” Streep reveals in the January issue of Vanity Fair. The latest edition of the Couture Bible will feature photos of the actress dating back to the late 1970s. Some of the snaps include those taken by Brigitte Lacombe in 1979.

The actress forging new ground in the upcoming romantic comedy It’s Complicated, alongside Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin.

“I’ve been given great, weird, interesting parts well past my ‘Sell by’ date,” she says. “I remember saying to Don [Gummer, Meryl’s husband] when I was 38, ‘Well, it’s over.’ And then we kicked the can down the road a little further.”

Correction: Meryl Streep is not only America’s Greatest Actress, she is THE World’s Greatest Actress of All Time.

If you people doubt that then just show me another cameleon, another shape-shifter, another, any other actress anywhere, who can so totally lose their identity while doing a character. You can’t so stop this “One of the” crap. She is The One and Only ever.

BTW, I am 43 and my 13 year old daughter is also one of Meryl’s fans. She got hooked by Mamma Mia and since then she and I have seen all of Meryl’s movies and have been totally blown away by her talent.

    I totally agree with Rosanne…
I’m 15 years old and I love Meryl Streep since I was only 5, when I first saw She-Devil. And it marked me. She is THE most amazing actress who has ever lived, because the way she transforms herself into someone else for her roles is unrecognizable. She always tends to take your breath away. She always does. Meryl Streep took the performances techniques from the Wonderful Bette Davis and mixed it with her own ( that’s what I think, because I see a lot of Davis in Meryl as a woman, you know?)It ’s a gift that only she knows how to manage it. It is her power over us “only humans”.
I really can say that Meryl Streep is the reason to me, for being the person I am today, she changed me deeply with her experience and imagination. And I’ll never forget it. Because my great dream is to finally one day meet her and be able to thank her for all she has done for me.

I’ve never been able to watch all her movies but I’m getting there already.

Meryl Streep is not talented, she is a genious, she is perfect, she is from another galaxy.
She is simlpy THE BEST. I’m saying all this, but down there I know there’s not a word, or a phrase, nothing concret to describe The Great MARY LOUISE STREEP.
