It’s been a tough week for Melissa Joan Hart. The former star of Sabrina The Teenage Witch is asking for fans’ prayers after her mother Paula Hart, 53, underwent an eight-hour surgery on a brain tumor in Los Angeles Thursday.

“All of my 6 siblings and I gathered at my house and the hospital for the entire week to be strong for each other,” Melissa, now a 33-year-old mother of two, blogged on her MySpace Page this afternoon. “She is out of the woods and on her way to recovery, luckily she is a good healer and has 7 children to lend a hand in times like these.”

Melissa — who showed off her newly-trim figure in a bikin-clad cover of PEOPLE last week — her has turned to her faith.

“Prayer is a big part of my life and it was very crucial last week for my mommy,” Melissa blogs. “I ask that you keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she fights her way to a full and wonderful recovery. I love you Mommy!!!”
