Former Spice Girl Melanie “Scary Spice” Brown will host the 2008 Miss Universe pageant, NBC executives announced on Tuesday.

“I’m thrilled to be a co-host of the Miss Universe pageant,” the star of TLC’s The Singing Room said in a statement. “I believe the diversity and dedication that the pageant brings inspires and empowers young women across the globe.”

Mel will share hosting duties with America’s Got Talent host Jerry Springer.

The pageant, taped in Vietnam, will air on July 13th from 9-11 p.m. EST on NBC.
