Mel Gibson’s Gay Brother Says Hobophobic Mel isn’t Homophobic
In an interview with Australia’s Sunday Times, Andrew Gibson — the adopted gay sibling of tabloid-bait Mel — said that when he heard those infamous audio tapes released by Mel’s ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, he didn’t believe it was really his famous brother.
“When I heard them I just thought, ‘That isn’t Mel’. He has never said anything abusive, aggressive or racist in his life.”
(Except for all those times he has, of course.)
Andrew went on to say that when he came out to his family two decades ago, Mel told him, “It’s not my choice, but I love you and you’re my brother.”
It’s unclear whether that little warm and fuzzy exchange happened before or after Mel’s 1991 interview with the Spanish-language newspaper El Pais, in which he blathered, “They take it up the ass, this [pointing to his butt] is only for taking a shit. With this look, who’s going to think I’m gay? I don’t lend myself to that type of confusion. Do I look like a homosexual? Do I talk like them? Do I move like them?”
No offense to Andrew Gibson, but he sounds like he’d make a great Log Cabin Republican. They never believe the people they support are bigots either.
