Melanie Brown may be topless but she’s still out of a job. In a devastating setback for the woman formerly known as “Scary Spice,” her 12-week contract to appear in the Las Vegas burlesque production of Peepshow will not be renewed when it ends later this month.

Mel has been performing in the extravaganza — alongside fellow former Dancing With The Stars performer and General Hospital actress Kelly Monaco — since April.

Show insiders report that bosses at the plush Hollywood Resort and Casino decided to give Mel her walking papers because they are unable to continue paying her massive salary — which remains undisclosed. Melanie will be replaced by Holly Madison, former fiancee of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner.

“She is gutted, she loved doing the show. Mel was pinning her hopes on it, believing it would help her crack America. She also hoped the clothing range would put her up there with Victoria so that has really hetoo. She was furious she heard the news,” a source close to the 34-year-old former Spice Girl blabbed to The PEOPLE on Sunday.
