“Meet the Press” Host David Gregory Under Investigation for Violating DC Gun Law

David Gregory Gun Charge

Police in the Nation’s Capital say they are investigating an incident in which Meet the Press host David Gregory displayed what he described as a high-capacity ammunition magazine on Sunday’s program.

Gregory held up the magazine as a prop during an interview with National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre. Just one little problem: Gun laws in Washington, DC restrict the possession of high-capacity magazines. Metropolitan Police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump says NBC had already been advised not to use the magazine during the broadcast.

“NBC contacted (the Metropolitan Police Department) inquiring if they could utilize a high capacity magazine for their segment. NBC was informed that possession of a high capacity magazine is not permissible and their request was denied. This matter is currently being investigated.”

Gregory took over as host of the weekend political news fest when previous moderator Tim Russert suffered a fatal heart attack in 2008.
