An unidentified medical condition will keep Alec Baldwin out of Adam Shankman’s movie musical Rock of Ages, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The Emmy winner is undergoing medical treatment which will make it impossible for him to appear in the filming, set to get underway May 23. We’re not sure what’s ailing Alec, but we hear his condition required immediate attention.
The movie, an adaptation of the popular Broadway show of the same name, will also feature stars like Catherine Zeta-Jones, Tom Cruise, Julianne Hugh, Mary J. Blige, and Russell Brand. Baldwin was cast as Dennis Dupree, the owner of the Bourbon Room, the Sunset Boulevard Nightclub at the center of the movie. In March, he told New York Magazine that he was taking singing lessons for the role.
“You have to. You have to take it seriously.”
If the condition does not improve sometime in the next month, Alec will not be able to work on another major project as well, The Reporter says. The 30 Rock has one more year left on his contract with the NBC cult comedy. He’s already been vocally about his interest in departing the cast at the conclusion of his deal.
