Matt Giraud Saved From Elimination On “American Idol”– “Idol” Judges Save Matt
It was a first on American Idol. Several weeks ago, it was announced that Idol judges would be given veto power over America’s vote once each season as long as there were five or more contestants.
Last night, the foursome used their Wild Card to shield one lucky contestant from elimination.
Piano playing singer Matt Giraud was given a second chance by the foursome of chatty Idol judges Wednesday night.
“Matt, how many times have you been in the bottom three?” Simon asked as the studio audience took to their feet with shouts of “Save! Save! Save!”
“Twice,” Matt mouthed.
“Can I be honest with you?” Simon asked. “I didn’t think you were as good as you were last night. I don’t see that you have really any chance of winning the competition.”
“It’s good news,” said Simon Cowell as he informed Matt that the judges had voted to preserve the 23-year-old despite his rocky rendition of Bryan Adams’ 1995 hit, “Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman.”
So Matt’s around for a least another week.
“This means two people will be going home next week,” Simon cautioned.
