Not everyone is warming up to Madame Barracuda. Hollywood hunk Matt Damon offers up some harsh words for uber-conservative VP hopeful Sarah Palin in a new interview with the Associated Press. The Bourne Identity star calls Palin’s appointment as Senator John McCain’s running mate a “disaster” and the chance that she could become President a “terrifying possibility.”

“I think there’s a really good chance Sarah Palin could become president, and I think that’s a really scary thing….I don’t understand why more people aren’t talking about how absurd it is,” Matt told the AP on Wednesday.

(Right on, Matt! Smart and handsome-What a combination!)

“It’s like a really bad Disney movie,” Matt says of the likelihood that the Governor of Alaska will become President if Senator McCain, who has a history of health problems, does not live out his term.

“The hockey mom, you know, ‘Oh, I’m just a hockey mom from Alaska’…and she’s facing down President Putin [of Russia].”

“I think that pick [Sarah Palin] was for political purposes. But in terms of governance it’s a disaster.”

Matt Damon says if you look up the actuarial tables there is a one in three chance that McCain will die within the next four years.

Damon then boldly challenges us to “do the actuarial tables”.

    Well, I did…and Damon is off…WAY off.

The actuarial tables supplied by the U.S. government indicate a one in seven chance, NOT a one in three chance.

    Take a look at http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/STATS/table4c6.html

If you add up the four years for males from ages 72 to 75 you get 0.151985 which translates to about 1/7th or one in 7.

A RESPONSE TO ACTOR, MATT DAMON …

    MATT …

You’re just an actor, and everyone knows that you and Ben Afflick have been in the tank for Obma, even before Palin came along. Your lines are written for you, just like a speech writer creates the lines for Obama.
A director tells you what to do each moment . Make-up people and costurme designers work on your
appearance. Other than that, you’re just like anybody else, except you seem to think that since you’re
a manufactured celebrity, your opinion means more, but it doesn’t.

    QUESTION:
IS PALIN QUALIFIED COMPARED TO OBAMA ?

    ANSWER:
    http://townhall.com/blog/g/cba8713c-ef73-4ebc-aa5e-bc53e6596e2a&comments=true

Once again … if you compare McCain/Palin’s track record with Obama/Biden’s, it’s no contest. McCain/Palin are a hundred times more qualified to lead this country. McCain/Palin show scores of actual achievements and solid service to America, while once again, Obama’s track record is one of excessive absences from his responsibilities, and all talk with no actual experience, or contributions to America.
Like Governor Palin has pointed out … Obama had the time to write two memoirs, but never wrote one piece of significant legislation … not even when he was in the state legislature. Regarding earmarks, and the economy … If Obama gets elected, his irresponsible and clueless ideas for shifting America’s wealth would turn the U.S.A. into a third world country, with businesses laying off employees to keep their doors open. Obama’s ideas for national security would de-fang America and make us weak, putting us at the mercy of the world’s tyrants.

Matt Damon, is without a doubt, the biggest fool and Hollywood political bigot today who can only regurgitates the DNS talking points. When was the last time Matt had a truly original thought or observation?

His words will come back to bite him if they haven’t already.

The election will to some extent be a referendum on intellectually deficient people from Hollywood who fancy themselves as “progressive” thinkers. Who cares what they think?

Matt Damon couldn’t spell CAT if you spotted him the “C” and the “T”.

Why is Matt Damon commenting on this anyway and who cares what he thinks.

He’s an actor - glorified word for someone who’s good at ‘make believe’. Whoopdeedoo.

What did he do? Call his agent to tell them he wanted to comment, and then it becomes headline news? An advanced internet search for “Matt Damon” Palin results in 825,000 matches??? The media is worried about all of the positive attention the governor Palin is receiving so they have to bring out the big guns - Matt Damon! What an absurd joke this story is! Appealing to the uneducated followers.

And we don’t think the media teaches people how to think?

    Matt,

I really hope someone forwards this response to you, because you need to read it.

First, you’ve had only ONE really good movie, and in that film you were still upstaged by Mork from Ork like Fred Gwynne on a stage of full of midgets.

That makes you qualified to judge political candidates? That makes you a political analyst we should take seriously?

Talk about a bad Disney movie!

The sad truth is, you will never again have a film as good as Good Will Hunting. Your career has essentially gone down hill from there….

Sure, the Bourne series was entertaining, but as a film, neither matched Good Will.

What about Stuck On You you say? Sorry, it was nNot the Scarface of the 2000’s!

So before you let that bit of fame and money you now have go to your noggin, remember this:

You are an entertainer, not my political advisor. Stick to what you know. It’s you and the Monkey-ed Movies.

Dance for me monkey, and shut up when it comes to politics.

Palin has done more good for this country than anything you will ever do, anything you have ever done, and anything you will ever conceive.

    Desperate Conservatives.

You know he’s right and the polls are showing it. It is completely absurd.

Palin has done good for this country. LOLOLOLOLOLOL ROFL. Really, when?

Anyone care that while she was Mayor of Wasilla she started the practice of charging rape victims for their evidence kit? Yep.

She signed the budget - the budgets are online. The previous police chief made sure they were paid for but Palin and her hand-picked police chief cut that line item - I suppose that is another “efficiency” she was able to find.

Wasilla was the ONLY town in Alaska to doing this. The state legislature and Governor at the time received so many complaints about the HEINOUS practice that they requested the practice stop. They refused forcing the legislature and Governor to pass a law preventing Wasilla from continuing this law. Palin’s police chief spoke out against it in the Frontiersman stating that it was an “undue burden on the taxpayer.” When she came into office they paid over 11k for these when they were forced to stop that last year of this practice they paid $206.

    Despicable Woman.

Oh Yeah, “Dance for Me Monkey” poster above - you are exactly the kind of voter they want - ignorant.

Please don’t talk politics since you don’t know your facts.

I`d like to weigh in on this subject.I`m a fan of Matt Damon.I thought he was spectacular in Good Will Hunting and he was by far a cooler secret agent than James Bond in The Bourne Movies. Unlike the much less eloquent Pamela Anderson (who is very far from being the brightest bulb in the room) Matt Damon expressed his overall disdain for a possible Vice President Palin in a a very intelligent and articulate way,I must say. Damon has the inalienable right to his own political beliefs and worldviews but a lot of his comments were fraught with errors.I`ll explain why. First he said that she was the Mayor of a ”really, really small town” as if to dismiss the importance of being a Mayor.Mayoral duties are a huge responsibility regardless of the size of a town.Who does he think oversees city maintainence ,the roads being paved, potholes being filled, garbage being taken away?Mayors. Mayors have a really tough job,Senators just gripe, complain and pass bills in the Senate,Mayors are down in the trenches so to speak. I`ll finish up my point on my next post

Matt Damon stated his very pressing desire to know if Alaska Governor Sarah Palin really believed that dinosaurs (which some believe were the great levithians mentioned in the Bible-if you believe in the Bible that is) roamed the Earth thousands of years ago. Again as if to imply that that disqualifies Sarah Palin from being Vice President. I like a lot of others believed dinosaurs existed, that doesn`t make someone less intelligent to believe that. The proof isn`t just in the pudding it`s been found in the ground in the form of fossilized remains. And the skeletons that you see at local musuems so there`s tangible proof that these massive beasts really existed.

His comment about the actuary tables hinting that John McCain isn`t likely to survive a full four year term is another flawed argument. How does he know how much longer John McCain is likely to live? How do any of us know how long we have on this Earth? We don`t.We can only guess.
Actuary tables at their core are about odds and contigencies.McCain like Obama is a man who has continually beaten the odds in his life and McCain`s mother is 96 years old and still sharp, funny and full of life.If McCain wins I`m pretty sure he`ll live to BE 76(because he`s even said if he wins he`ll be a one-term President) As for what Damon said about Palin`s ”hockey mom”-shtick.I`m sure she`s more than that. She`s got to be more than that if she`s going to be the next Vice President of The United States Of America. To face down dictators in disguise like Putin she`ll have to have nerves of steel.
A former alcoholic, creationst and christian conservative who believes that the mission in Iraq was one that God told him was a just one is currently in possession of the nuclear codes for the world`s largest and most powerful nuclear arsenal which are in the ”football”(President George W.Bush) and a corrupt former business man who actually vocally declared his lack of concern for all of casualties for the troops in Iraq(Vice President Dick Cheney)
is also in charge of the second ”football” if that makes Matt Damon feel any better.
So even though I don`t like them I think that John McCain and Sarah Palin could have the mind -boggling responsibility of having the fate of the world on ther shoulders and be quite capable at it.
I don`t know if the stories about Palin attempting to have certain books banned from libraries when she was the Mayor of Wasilla were true or faslse, though. I still like Matt Damon though but I don`t agree with everything he says.

While it’s self-evident that a Hollywood actor’s views hold no more merit than anyone else’s, Damon does have a valid point. Palin is a fanatic who’s views should be restricted to the local rather than national stage. Putin is the de facto leader of Russia, but that’s not the point. The point is that Palin’s as much of a religious fanatic as anyone she criticises in other states. More to the point she’s an international embarassment who could not have existed without the extremist polarisation that’s taken place in the US. With most politicians the criticism is that they’re fake, with Palin the criticism would be that she does believe her own words. It’s doubtless, completely doubtless, that McCain now regrets sullying his reputation and honor by sharing a platform with someone of her character.
