Matt Damon And Several Other Stars Travel To Mars In First Trailer For ‘The Martian’ [Watch]

Matt Damon certainly knows what it’s like to be in space by now after appearing in Interstellar and now taking his turn going to Mars in The Martian. The film features an ensemble cast on a daunting mission to the red planet.

After a couple of teases recently and prior photos released, audiences now have a full-length trailer of the exciting new film The Martian. It is based on the book of the same name by Andy Weir.

The plot of the film focuses on an astronaut (Matt Damon), who is stranded on Mars after a dust storm sends the rest of his crew away, left completely alone similarly to his character in Interstellar, while also similar to Gravity, since he is all on his own and trying to survive.

In addition to Matt Damon, The Martian features an amazing ensemble cast of people in his crew as well as people back home that are trying to bring him back. The crew includes Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara, Michael Peña, Sebastian Stan, and Aksel Hennie, while he is supported by Sean Bean, Mackenzie Davis, Donald Glover, Kristen Wiig, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jeff Daniels back home.

You can keep track of everyone with this helpful chart:

Mark Watney (Damon) is presumed dead once the rest of his crew leaves him during the big storm and he is receiving help from both his crew and those back on Earth. NASA and a team of scientists have been working to bring him home while his crew plans a seemingly impossible mission to rescue him.

The film is directed by Ridley Scott who has not dealt with Mars before on film, but clearly has experience working with outer space after making Alien and it will be his first film since Exodus: Gods and Kings.

Matt Damon’s survival mission on Mars will come to theaters on November 25th, just in time for awards season, and there is no doubt that this film will receive something.
