Mark Wahlberg and “Ted” Tapped as Oscar Presenters
Mark Wahlberg and his foul-mouthed teddy bear co-star from the surprise hit comedy Ted have been announced as presenters for the 2013 Academy Awards.
The raunchfest, directed by Oscars host and Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, earned an impressive $54.1 million when it opened in theaters last summer. The feat was the third-best debut ever for an R rated comedy, just behind the openings of The Hangover: Part II and Sex and the City, and the best debut ever for an original comedy.
“We are happy to make it possible for Mark and Ted to make their debut appearance on the Oscar stage. And we won’t deny that Ted used his pull with our host to get himself the booking,” telecast producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said Friday.
The 2013 Academy Awards will be presented Feb. 24 at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood and Highland Center.
