VH1 has greenlit a reality show starring Extra host and bestselling author Mario Lopez and his pregnant girlfriend, the syndicated TV newsmagazine dished on its website Tuesday.

The new docu-soap will document the former Saved by the Bell star and girlfriend Courtney Mazza as they prepare for the birth of their first child this spring. From changing diapers to faceoffs with the in-laws, VH1′s cameras will be on hand as Mario adjusts to fatherhood while balancing a workload that includes hosting Extra and MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew.

“Our audience has grown up with Mario. They have watched him go from a kid in a fictional high school to a man who has succeeded in many different facets in the TV business. We’re thrilled that we get to be a part of his next transition into fatherhood,” Jeff Olde, VH1′s Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Production, beamed in an statement announcing the deal. “This new series fits perfectly with VH1′s programming because Mario’s upcoming life changes reflect the same family milestones that many of our viewers are experiencing for the first time.”

The untitled new show premieres this fall.
