People Magazine has released the first image of Marie-Anne Thiébaud, the thirty-seven year old Swiss secretary at the center of Canadian singer Shania Twain’s recent split from her husband of fourteen years, Robert “Mutt” Lange.
“Mutt and Marie-Anne left their spouses for each other and are still in a relationship.”

It’s not all about looks of course, there may have problems in the marriage that go beyond the surface, after all, Mutt Lange isn’t much to look at either but Shania married him anyway, so they must have had other things in common but 14 years later if he is doing this to someone like Shania then the marriage was probably on the rocks anyway, and the fact that the wife is the last to know makes it even more tragic. I know they will continue to be good parents for their son. This woman may have been just a symptom of deeper problems, but its the betrayal by the husband and a good friend that makes it more poignant and human.

It’s possible that Mutt had a really hard time being married to such a stunning beauty as Shania. After all, he IS rather homely. I’ve heard it’s difficult when one person in the relationship is gorgeous by all standards while the other one is, well, not. The “other woman” is much, much better suited asthetically to Mutt than Shania is, no contest. So I think he just couldn’t handle it, no matter how committed to him poor Shania was. But I bet Mutt is allot more relaxed now, not having to watch every single man in the world drool over his new girlfriend.

i feel sad for Shania’s broken marriage, but I am happy that she’s recovering from the divorce. She deserves better. She has a son and a career to live her. Marie-Anne is way too out of Shania’s league. She’s not even a beauty and she’s not even that sucessful. But I guess, some men look for a less sucessful and a more ordinary looking girlfriend for their own egos. They couldn’t stand themselves having popular wives and girlfriends.
