Mariah Carey is not the singer she once was, according to acid-tongued music mogul Simon Cowell.

The American Idol judge claims the five-octave songbird should concentrate on recording love songs.

“To me, the greatest singer is Mariah Carey, but she’s lost it,” Simon told Live magazine.

“She needs to go back to singing ballads. You have to stick with doing what you do best. Be honest. Know yourself.”

He added that he believes protégé Leona Lewis could “top” Carey’s success in the future.
