Mariah Carey Hated “Idol” Gig; Compares Nicki Minaj to Satan

If it looked like Mariah Carey wasn’t having a good time as judge on the last season of American Idol, well, it’s because she wasn’t. The singing diva now sums up her brief time on the aging talent show as “like going to work every day in hell with Satan” — her apparent nickname for femcee rival Nicki Minaj.

In an interview with Hot 97 personality Angie Martinez, Mariah reignited her long simmering feud with Nicki while admitting she “hated” being on American Idol.

“Honestly, I hated it. I thought it was going to be a three-person panel. They gave me a nice dangling monetary moment and I was just like, ‘OK. Randy Jackson will be there; I’ve known him forever. He used to play bass for me. Like, this isn’t a big deal. This will be nothing.’ But it wasn’t that. It was like going to work every day in hell with Satan.”

With both Carey and Minaj off the panel, FOX will present a newly-revamped Idol — featuring judges Keith Urban, Harry Connick Jr. and returning fan fave Jennifer Lopez — in January.
