British artist Marc Quinn has unveiled his solid gold statue of supermodel Kate Moss. Affectionately dubbed Siren, the piece, which captures Kate in a yoga position, will sit on display at the British Museum Statuephilia Exhibition in Central London beginning October 4, 2008 through January 25, 2009. Siren is the largest gold statue produced since Ancient Egyptian times.

The earlier ones he did of her in bronze, then painted white, were absolutely stunning. Erotic. Eerie. I would have killed to won one. I suspect the gold doesn’t photograph well but the statue is fabulous to see in the flesh.
