Maggie Gyllenhaal Caught Breast-Feeding In Public

The paps spied actress Maggie Gyllenhaal treating her daughter, The Ramona, (who is probably a certified cutie, but it’s hard to tell with her mom’s mammaries in the way) to lunch in New York’s West Village.

Ok, so the kid’s gotta eat. We get it, Maggie. But you could have a least drapped a towel over your shoulder.

I still breastfeed my 8.5 month old in public… and rarely cover up. He would just take the "towel" off any how… It's amazing to me that there are places that women can walk around topless and nothing is done or said but then a beautiful moment of nourishing your child is ridiculed! Breasts are not just for gawking at!

You should cover up, because no one wants to see your boobies. And if they do, then your doing it will make it seem as though you're looking for a chance to show them off. I won't say starve your child, but at least have the decency to cover up for those who would find it offensive. It's not good enough to say "look away" because I don't walk into a park expecting to see things like this — I stumble upon it and then I'm in the middle of the awkward moment. Pooping is natural aswell, but I'm sure you don't want to see people doing that in the park.

Carine, remind me not to ever accept a dinner invite from you, since you obviously cannot differentiate between FECAL MATTER and FOOD.
There are many things we dont "expect to see" when walking into a park.. but strangely, the normal, healthy way of feeding a child is the most looked down upon.
You don't have to stare if you don't want to.

bravo maggie!! thats great you are breastfeeding!!
Carine: would you like to have a towel or blanket over your head everytime you eat in public? maybe you should try it and see how you like it…

It's great to see a star nursing her baby in public. I nursed everywhere, resturants, amusement parks and even in front of my grandfather. If I had tried to put a blanket over my baby's head she would have ripped it off and thrown it. If you don't want to see a baby nursing just don't look. The only one who feels awkward is you. That's your problem, not mine.

So, everyone is comfortable with all of these Hollywood actresses flashing their breasts and hoo ha's for the world to see, it ends up on E! news, and people just get a good laugh, but the minute they see a baby attached to the boob, OMFG cover up!!!
For people who live in such a over-sexualized society, everyone gets pretty prude the minute they see a mom breastfeeding her baby.
As for comparing it to defecating or urinating in public….that doesn't even dignify a response.
Kudos to Maggie!!!!

Bravo, to Maggie. Breast feeding is so natural. I rather see a mother breast feeding her baby. Then, a women showing off, her breasts, for everyone to see. (They show more of their breasts, then mothers, breast feeding.)
I don't get it. People tell mothers to cover up, while breast feeding. But, don't the women or teenagers, to cover up. When, they are wearing bikini, low cut shirts, dresses & etc…
I'm not a mother. But, I support Breast feeding 100%

Woo hoo Maggie!! :) I'm a proud & public breastfeeding mom. No way I'm covering up & I think it's sad that it would make anyone uncomfortable, let alone offended, to see a baby eating in the most natural way possible.

Keep goin Maggie! I breastfeed anywhere my baby is hungry…and I don't eat under a blanket, so I certainly don't expect my son to. Maybe those that don't want to see breasts function the way they were intended should carry a blanket to put over their heads?

I can't believe that in the days of hollywood nudity and "girls gone wild" – a child nursing is considered inappropriate.
This writer was an idiot.

i think its disgusting, cover up no one wants to see boob hanging out flopping all over the place! get a pump and pour it into a bottle so you are not flopping your breasts around for the world to see, being naked is natural too but im sure people would get offended if some one was walking around naked all the time, in fact you’d get arrested, for something natural? , cover up girls, have some respect for yourselves & other peoples eyes.

Who cares? It’s natural. She a mom. Get a grip.. It’s not dirty or anything to be ashamed of. Are you people that petty?
Simply put, if you don’t like it don’t look.

So people are actually complaining about seeing a beautiful actresses breasts…hope they aren’t going to the movies! None of these negative comments could be from a man could they?
Maggie, you are beautiful and doing a great service for your child and for other nursing moms by normalizing bfing. Rock on!

Kudos to Maggie!!! I am breastfeeding my 8.5 month old and plan to do so for many months more. This is what these things are designed for.
Maggie will likely have much healthier breasts because of doing this (much, much lower rate of breast cancer!) and her daughter will be healthier as well–fewer ear infections, intestinal diseases, fewer allergies, and, wouldn’t you know it, also a higher IQ.
So for those Cassies, Brians, and Carines out there, maybe rethink your hatred of breastfeeding or at least go out an buy a big blanket to put over yourselves when you eat.
