Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson were forced to reveal the impending arrival of their first baby bundle on the website FriendsorEnemies.com after celebrity weeklies refused to shell out big bucks for an exclusive interview and photoshoot about the newlywed’s first pregnancy. PEOPLE Magazine reported lackluster sales after forking over fistfuls of cash (approximately a cool million to be exact) for a cover shot and exclusive pictures from Pete and Ashlee’s wedding earlier this month; subsequently the rest of the industry decided to pass on a massive payout for an exclusive story confirming Ashlee’s pregnancy. (Papa Joe must be losing his touch.)

…The baby was blogged about because none of the weeklies wanted to run an exclusive (i.e., pay for photos) for a big story about the couple’s bundle-of-joy-to-be. “Their wedding story didn’t do well on newsstands, so everyone passed on the baby story. And of course, it wasn’t like it was news (that they were expecting) anyway.”
