Madonna Won’t Face Obscenity Charges In Amsterdam

Madonna has learned that she will not be charged with blasphemy or insulting faith stemming from the singer’s conduct at two 2006 concerts in the Netherlands.
Last year, she was seen to kneel and take off a crown of thorns against the backdrop of a crucifix, prompting calls from members of the Protestant SGP party for charges to be brought against her.
“The pop singer Madonna will not be prosecuted for blasphemy and insulting faith. The prosecutor’s office believes that through her show, the singer on all the evidence tried to express her frustrations about certain situations in the world .. it is not a question of contempt for God. Furthermore, Madonna did not discredit Christians as a group,” says an official at the Amsterdam prosecutor’s office.
Madonna and Co. have been hitting up red carpet events sans David (the adopted African kid) amidst much criticism.
