Madonna could provide songs for the Twilight sequel, but don’t expect to see the star in front of the camera when the surefire box office smash hits theaters next year.

The blogosphere is ablaze with whispers that the Material Girl could be up for a role in New Moon. the eagerly-anticipated to last year’s vampire epic, Twilight.

And while Madge is reportedly being courted for the project, Entertainment Weekly insiders say it is her status as a pop singing icon as opposed to her critically panned acting skills that has piqued the interests of New Moon producers.

…Because Madonna’s manager, Guy Oseary, is a producer on the project, there is some talk of her providing songs for the sequel….
