The Material Girl is about to become an honorary African. The government of Malawi has announced plans to make Madonna an honorary citizen in celebration of her humantarian efforts in the nation.

“We are proud as a country to be associated with such a megastar,” Billy Kaunda, Malawi’s deputy tourism and culture minister, said on Tuesday. “She will have freedom of all cities here. She won’t be bothered with issues like visas and other limitations.”

Madonna, who is in the process of adopting a Malawian-born baby named David, will open a school for girls in the country later this year.
