Bad things can happen when the middle-aged dabble in social networking. Case and point: Aging pop queen Madonna is coming under fire for using the n-word (yep, that one) in an Instagram snapshot of her 13-year-old son.
The “Lucky Star” singer, 55, posted a picture of her son Rocky in the boxing ring with the caption:
“No one messes with Dirty Soap! Mama said knock you out! #disn*gga.”
In news that should surprise absolutely no one, this did not go over well with Madge’s followers. Perhaps the fact that the mother of four adopted two children from the African nation of Malawi — and thus is expected to have some sense of racial sensitivity — had something to do with the outrage?
Madonna — dubbed Forbes’ highest-paid female artist of 2013 — was soon lambasted for using the derogatory word which resulted in her deleting the picture. One user wrote in response:
“MADONNA U NEED TO TAKE UR arthritis medicine instead of trying to be hip on the internet.”
Never one to back down from controversy, she re-uploaded the same image with a new caption that read:
“Ok let me start this again. #get off of my dick haters!”
An improvement — sorta.
Earlier this month, Madonna was criticized for Instagramming a New Year’s Eve photo of Rocco holding a champagne bottle.
