Charles Brunner, the mayor of Bay City, Michigan has penned a letter to his most famous hometown girl, Madonna, offering the superstar a key to the city.

He has approached Madonna’s ailing dad to help him get the singer into town. Charles wants to honor the Material Girl in a lavish ceremony, including a music festival and the unveiling of a statue in the singer’s likeness. The Detriot-suburb of Bay City first tried to honor the multiplatinum-selling singer back in 1985 at the start of her fame, but plans for a hometown honor for Madge were scrapped after local residents complained about the then-twentysomething’s raunchy stage routine.
