Madonna Adoption Papers Filed In Malawi–Star Adopting Second African Baby

The Material Girl just got closer to adding another African baby to her collection of handbags.
Madonna will travel to Malawi this weekend to adopt her second child from the country, officials announced on Wednesday. A source at the Malawi Welfare Department tells the BBC that the singer has already filed adoption papers and will arrive in the country this weekend to attend a court hearing scheduled for Monday.
According to the tipster, Madonna is adopting a 3-year-old Malawian girl named Mercy James.
“We expect her over the weekend or earlier than that…but without a doubt she is coming before the end of this month,” the official at the Ministry of Gender and Child Development told Reuters.
The move comes just days after a government official warned that the music star’s application would be harmed by her romantic entanglements with baseball star Alex Rodiguez and 22-year-old model Jesus Luz.
“We do not only look at the material issues, but also the moral standing of prospective adoptive parents, because we do not want our children’s morals to be corrupted,” Malawi’s child welfare chief official Simon Chisale told The New York Daily News on Tuesday.
