Macklemore Under Fire for Anti-Semitic Performance

Bad costume choice or something more sinister?

That’s the question on tongues of hip-hop heads after Seattle-bred emcee Macklemore — the lyrical half of the rapping/producing duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis — turned in a hometown performance of the pair’s hit “Thrift Shop” dressed as, what critics are calling, “a stereotypical Jewish man.”

So much for “Same Love,” eh?

Macklemore’s controversial performance comes at an interesting time for the Jewish community: A recent global survey, conducted by the Anti-Defamation League, concluded that one in four adults worldwide are “deeply infected” with anti-Semitic views.
