Lynne Spears is upset that she was branded an unfit mother when her teen daughter, Jamie Lynn Spears, received a visit from the stork at just sixteen, while the world embraces Governor Sarah Palin and her pregnant teen trollop, Bristol.

In a new interview with Newsweek, Lynne says the public “crucified” Jamie Lynn for becoming pregnant, but has “celebrated” Bristol.

Newsweek: You and Jamie Lynn got some negative press when she got pregnant so young. But more recently, 17-year-old Bristol Palin, and her mother, Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate, found themselves in a similar situation. And the public reaction has been different.

Lynne Spears: It’s a totally different reaction. It’s as if [Sarah Palin] became celebrated. I mean, the mother, Palin, was celebrated for this. Every woman in the world has applauded her strength and her convictions and poor little old Jamie Lynn—you saw how she was crucified. Everybody did, firsthand … I just feel like it’s been a very hypocritical situation.

I actually agree with Lynne here. The public reaction has certainly been more sympathatic to the Palins.

I work with pregnant teenagers in a city which has one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates in the country. As parents, we teach to educate our children about sex and pregnancy. But as children do, they will inevitably experiment and the girl ends up pregnant. This has been a problem since the beginning of time. The girl is often the one that is blamed when the boy has played a part. Moreover, the parents of the girl are ostricized by the community. People are to quick to criticize. We are not judges nor are we jurors. Most likely, we all have some woman in our family who got pregnant when she was young. And if this happens, we as parents should teach our children how to be good parents. And, afford them the education so that they will be productive.
