Lohan’s Parents Banned From OWN Reality Show
Is it a good thing when your parents are banned from your new reality show? It is if you’re Lindsay Lohan.
When your dad has appeared on VH1′s Celebrity Rehab and your mom was just arrested for drunk driving, maybe it isn’t the greatest idea to feature them on a series that’s supposed to focus on you repairing the shambles of a troubled existence. That’s clearly the thinking behind LiLo’s upcoming “docu-series” for Oprah Winfrey’s eponymous OWN network.
Network chiefs have reportedly banned the star’s problematic parents from appearing on the show, TMZ said Monday. Producers of the eight-episode OWN docu-soap have decided to shift the focus away from the “Lohan family circus” and instead focus on Lindsay’s “comeback and recovery” — an angle that’s a far better fit with the aspirational attitude of Oprah’s network.
Cameras did capture a few days’ worth of footage featuring Lindsay and her sometimes estranged dad, Michael, but it’s “unclear” whether that footage will air. In the meantime, there will be no further filming with either Michael or his ex-wife, Dina.
The still-untitled Lohan reality show is scheduled to debut on OWN sometime next year.
