LL Cool J is so upset that a country-singing, Southern blonde beat him to Billboard victory he is threatening to hang up his mic after nearly a quarter century of rapping.

According to Nielsen Soundscan, Jessica Simpson’s first country album, Do You Know, topped the country chart and came in No. 4 overall in the Billboard 200, moving 65,000 units, while LL’s Exit 13 album, his final set on career-long label home Def Jam, came in at No. 9 with sales of 44,000.

“LL is furious,” a Def Jam source has revealed to MSNBC. “He was so angry at one point that he was beaten by Jess that he actually threatened to quit rap.”
