Lauren Conrad’s got a new best friend; after being dropped from two film projects (Manson Girls, Ye Olde Times) last week, actress Lindsay Lohan is cozying up to the MTV reality star in hopes of landing a gig on The Hills.

Lindsay kicked her plan into action during a Cinco de Mayo Party at West Hollywood’s Crown Bar:

“Sam [Ronson] was deejaying the whole time, so Lauren and Lindsay were buddies all night,” a spy for The National Enquirer says.

Although parlaying a friendship with Conrad could work wonders for the resident rehabber’s sinking career, tabloid moles close to LiLo fear L.C’s love of the nightlife could have a negative influence on Lindsay’s sometimes shaky sobriety.

“It could be good for her effort to get into TV because Lauren’s close friends always end up on her show…..Lindsay would fit in perfectly on The Hills. She loves clubs, shopping and the L.A lifestylejust as much as Lauren and her co-stars Lo, Audrina and Heidi. And Lindsay’s certainly caused her fair share of drama!”
