Lindsay Lohan and screen legend Jane Fonda are among the legion of Hollywood stars mourning the loss of actress Natasha Richardson. Richardson died on Wednesday after suffering severe head trauma in a skiing accident near Montreal on Monday. She was 45.

The wildchild actress, who was just 12-years-old when she starred as the daughter of the acclaimed theater actress in the 1998 film The Parent Trap released a statement on Richardson’s passing last night.

“She was a wonderful woman and actress and treated me like I was her own,” Lindsay’s statement read. “I didn’t see much of her over the years but I will miss her.”

Lindsay expressed her condolences to Natasha’s family, which includes husband, Liam Neeson, sons Micheal Richard Antonio, 13, and Daniel Jack, 12, sister Joely Richardson, and actresess mother Vanessa Redgrave and aunt Lynn Redgrave.

“My heart goes out to her family. This is a tragic loss.”

Hollywood vet Jane Fondafirst met Natasha Richardson when her mom Vanessa co-starred with Fonda in the Julia 1977 movie. She regrets she couldn’t visit the actress because she was busy with performances of her Broadway production, 33 Variations.

“I first met her on the set of Julia. She was a little girl but already beautiful and graceful. It didn’t surprise me that she became such a talented actor….I wanted to go to the Lenox Hill Hospital where I was told she had been taken to see if there was anything I could do for Vanessa (Redgrave), any comfort I could bring but today was a two-show day and as the curtain went up tonight I heard the tragic news. It is hard to even imagine what it must be like for her family. My heart is heavy.”
