On The Ellen DeGeneres Show Thursday, Lindsay Lohan gets candid about her breakup with celebrity DJ Samantha Ronson.

In Lindsay’s first TV interview since her highly-publicized split with Sam, the actress says she was hit hard by the breakup, which she claims came out of the blue.

“I think that break-ups are hard when you’re a private person,” Ellen said.

“Or when you don’t know you’re breaking up… really weird,” Lindsay responded. “That whole night was just really tough and… it came out of nowhere…”

Lindsay went on to say that she was floored by reports that the Ronson family, including Sam’s twin sister Charlotte, considered obtaining a restraining order against her in the aftermath of the breakup.

“I was like, ‘I don’t understand,’” Lindsay told Ellen. “It came out of nowhere. I’ve supported Charlotte and I’ve never done anything for people to assume I’m dangerous.”

“Samantha and I are friends. We’re talking,” she added.

LiLo says she’s ready to turn her focus to rebuilding her career now that she is single.

“I feel like I want to get my career back in shape,” she says. “When people are together so much it gets really difficult and you forget who you are because you’re more concerned about being with the other person. I think it’s been really good for me. I thought it would be so much harder and it hasn’t been.”
