The usually loud-mouthed Lily Allen has decided to step back from the ongoing debate over illegal downloads of music following an angry response from her fans.
Rarely one to mince words, the “Smile” singer has decided to close down her online blog, which aimed to curb illicit file-sharing, as followers began hurling profane slurs at her.
Lily will also not attend an upcoming summit meeting on the issue, The Daily Express reports.
“There is a meeting today in London where artists are meeting to discuss Piracy. My job done. I won”t be attending the meeting because it”s going to be a press frenzy and I don”t want to detract from the issues,” Lily Tweeted Thursday.
“I”m proud of the fact that that I”ve been involved with this debate but I”m passing the baton on to other artists,” she later added. “And I”ve shut down the blog, the abuse was getting too much.”
