LeVar Burton Car Accident — “Roots” Star Injured In Five-Car Pileup
Actor LeVar Burton suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a five-car accident in West Los Angeles on Monday evening.
Detective Judy Acosta of the LAPD says Burton — who appeared in the 1977 TV miniseries Roots — was traveling in a 2006 Mercedes on Beverly Boulevard at about 7:40 PM when a 74-year-old woman in a 2006 Scion turned left in front of him.
The cars collided and Burton’s vehicle then hit a parked car, leading to a chain reaction that damaged two other parked cars.
Both drivers were examined at nearby Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and released.
Burton, 52, also starred in television’s Star Trek: The Next Generation and was the longtime host of the PBS children’s program Reading Rainbow.
