With an extortion scandal to his credit, David Letterman is one guy who knows a thing or several about “personal transgression.” That didn’t stop the bespectacled comic from poking fun at everyone’s new favorite punching bag, disgraced golfing legend Tiger Woods.

Letterman had plenty to say about the revelation that the one-time role model has been collecting groupies like golf clubs. The comic, who in October revealed on-air that he’d been blackmailed and copped to sex with staffers, didn’t shy away from making light of his own situation either.

“President Obama is sending troops to Afghanistan. Hell, he ought to be sending them to Tiger Woods’ house,” Letterman quipped during his first live appearance on CBS’ Late Show in more than a week.

In a last ditch effort to help Tiger salvage what’s left of his once spotless public image, Letterman came up with the “Top 10 Ways Tiger Woods Can Improve His Image.” “Maybe I can learn a little something myself,” Dave joked. As an added bonus, Tom Hanks appeared to react to each entry.

The No. 1 answer: “Blame Letterman.”
