Leona Lewis has decided to adopt a child once she’s ready to start a family.

The X-Factor winner was inspired to give a needy child a home after recently visiting a number of African orphanages.

“I definitely plan to adopt. My mom was a social worker and my dad was a youth offender officer, so I know that there are a lot of kids out there that need to be fostered and adopted,” Leona says.

“When I was in Africa I wanted to take home all the kids. They were so cute. All of them had been orphaned because of HIV and it was heart-rending. There are so many who need help – you just don’t know where to start.”
