Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester is leading a list of young actresses up for the starring role in a modern remake of the classic fairytale Beauty And The Beast.

Leighton is slated to play a high school Belle in TV movie Beastly, E! reports.

“She really wants to do it,” sources say.
