LeAnn Rimes Leaves Twitter: Singer Abandons Microblogging Hub Following Attack By Fans
If you can’t take the heat, get out of the Twitterverse.
Country crooner LeAnn Rimes is going Tweet-free….at least temporarily.
“Taking a break from twitter for a while. It’s unhealthy for me and my family to have to read negative comments from people who’s opinions have no bearing on my life. I love my fans so very much and will return one day soon,” she wrote in a series of final Tweets to her fans Thursday.
On Tuesday, the newly-divorced star came under intense attack from fellow Tweeters for paparazzi shots of her making out with beau Eddie Cibrian — with one of his young son inches away — during a vacation in Santa Barbara. “Since when is kissing your boyfriend a crime?!” she retorted after taking a chiding from microbloggers.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll recall that Rimes and the recently-unemployed Cibrian got together on the set of their Lifetime Original Movie, Northern Lights, in 2008. Both were still married at the time. Being a hubby-stealing harlot’s done a real number on LeAnn’s once squeaky-clean image. But it appears the taunting has finally become too much for the celeb.
In her social networking swan song, LeAnn added: “I hope you understand. It’s time for me to focus on healing, my happiness and my music. I can’t wait to share it all with my fans soon! There’s a million other ways to stay connected with my fans and I plan to focus on those! The most important, bringing you great music!”
