Life after Scientology is getting real for Leah Remini. Reality TV real, that is.
TLC has ordered a new docu-series starring the former King of Queens star, Variety reported Wednesday. The network has ordered 12 half-hour episodes that will follow the Brooklyn-born actress as she tries to stay true to her Big Apple roots while living in the City of Angels.
The show will focus on Remini’s duties as wife to husband Angelo and mom to the couple’s nine-year-old daughter, Sofia. Production is set to begin today, with the yet-to-be-titled show expected to air during the summer, said TLC General Manager Nancy Daniels.
“Leah is a no-nonsense, hard-working, relatable mom, wife, daughter and sister. Her sharp humour and unfiltered family are a perfect match for the network. This series continues our focus on creating compelling series about remarkable families, using heart and humor to anchor it to the TLC brand.”
Leah was a life-long Scientologist before cutting ties with the controversial faith in 2013. She’s spent much of the past few months making headlines as one of the church’s most fervent critics.
