Lea Michele Debuts First Single; Album Gets 2014 Release Date

Lea Michele is hitting the charts as a solo artist

The “Gleek’s” debut album will drop next year, her label said Tuesday. Louder will be released on March 4, on Columbia Records. Lea, already a respected Broadway vet, is hoping to make similar waves on a very different stage.

Louder really encompasses my experiences over this past year and my journey as an artist up to this point. There’s a lot of emotion but it’s also very encouraging and hopeful — it’s about pushing forward and living your life in a way that’s louder, stronger and bolder. I’m so excited to share this new side of me with my fans.”

The album’s first single, “Cannonball,” is one of 11 tracks to be featured. Written by Australian singer/songwriter Sia, Lea will debut the song in a live performance on Thursday’s Ellen.
