Reality star Lauren Conrad is slapping on her designer’s cap to create the collection of couture gowns for the women handing out statues at the 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards, executive producers for television’s biggest night announced Wednesday.
“I am so excited that the Academy has asked me to design a dress for this year’s Emmy Awards,” the star of MTV’s The Hills said in a statement Wednesday. “I will be doing a red carpet look that still reflects the simple classic design of the Lauren Conrad Collection but with a black tie twist.”
Emmy producers couldn’t be happier to have LC on board.
“We are very excited to have someone as talented as Lauren Conrad working with us to help make this a very memorable and exciting show,” executive producer Ken Ehrlich beamed.
Lauren’s first major gig as a fashion maven comes less than a month after her Lauren Conrad Collection clothing was chucked from posh Los Angeles boutique Kitson for lackluster sales.
The 60th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air September 21 on ABC.
