The mass appeal of MTV’s The Hills has transformed Lauren Conrad from just another trust fund baby to a pop culture icon, but dishing spies tell Star Magazine the poor little rich girl has little to smile about these days.

The tabloid claims L.C is depressed and teetering on the verge of an emotional meltdown following the commercial failure of her clothing, a quiet feud with pal Audrina Patridge, and a love life that has become almost non-existent.

Upon learning that her Lauren Conrad Collection is selling poorly and has been dumped by premier Hollywood boutique Kitson, Lauren broke down in tears….wallowing in the misery that she feels her life has become, Star writes.

“She’s an emotional train wreck,” a source close to the reality star says. “She usually doesn’t lose it like that. But her life has spiraled out of control, and once she opened the floodgates, it was all over. She just crumpled, putting her head in her hands and sobbing.”
