“Last Call” for Carson Daly?
Last Call with Carson Daly may be on the chopping block, TV Guide said Wednesday. The publication cites an insider who claims NBC is mulling its options over whether to proceed with a 13th season of Carson’s low-rated, late-late-night gabest.
The network renewed the show back in April, but is now reportedly “considering several options” regarding the show’s fate. Those options include continuing Last Call with a new host, a complete format revamp or cancellation. Hardly a surprise; after all, the show has found itself on the brink of being cancelled several times over the years.
The situation is so dire show staffers have been told to say home even though production on the new season should currently be underway.
Don’t feel too bad for ole Carson. NBC reportedly has big plans to expand the one-time MTV VJ’s role on with The Peacock. In addition to his hosting duties on The Voice and the network’s annual New Year’s Eve countdown, Daly “is said to be in line for a much larger presence on NBC’s Today.”
