Larry The Cable Guy History Channel Show, “Only In America…”

38

The History Channel is teaming up with Blue Collar Comedy star Larry the Cable Guy for a new series. The comedian, known for his redneck alter ego, will host Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy, a new 13-episode series premiering later this year, the network said Wednesday.

In Only in America With Larry the Cable Guy, Larry (real name Daniel Whitney) explores the country, “immersing himself in different lifestyles, jobs and hobbies that celebrate the American experience.”

He’ll also reveal bits of history from wherever he happens to be in each episode.

“Larry the Cable Guy wows audiences across the country with his unique brand of humor and quirky take on America,” History president/GM Nancy Dubuc said in a statement. “We are thrilled to welcome him to History in what promises to be a genre-busting series that takes a look at history like you’ve never seen it before.”

Seriously, this isn’t about “hating”, or about how good a guy Dan is in real life. It’s about a redneck comedian hosting a wholesome, funny tour of America, and putting that on the History Channel. FFS, this belongs on Comedy at best. Might as well take the channel off the air, it’s nothing but reality TV now anyway, just like TLC.

Love Larry’s new show……! I’ve seen him several times (alone & with Jeff Foxworthy/Bill Engvall) & each time was funnier than the last. In this world where there is so much negativity, having someone that can make us laugh simply by being human is sorely needed. God bless Larry…..!

During the “Moonshine History” episode, Larry put on a “moonshiners” hat. What a difference it made! He was downright handsome in that hat. Later, again in his baseball hat he was his goofy self; I missed the sophisticated gentleman of the moonshine road.

We have watched several episodes of this program which we enjoyed. Some people on this blog and may well be history channel fans but seem to be elitists and not appreciative of the country humor and character that he portrays. He offers some good humor, some that may only be appreciated by a small segment of the population, but offers insight into the lives and activities of many different kinds of people. That is history. History being made. Put away your prejudices and enjoy the show for what it is and what it provides.

    Larry,
We have been fans for a long time and now that you host “Only in America” – we wanted to invite you to our town, Fort Collins, Colorado. We are known for a few great things – microbreweries (New Belgium (i.e. third largest microbrewery in the country), O’dells, Equinox, Coopersmith, C & B Potts, Fort Collins Brewery) and clean energy. We are working on a project to take a half the City off the electric grid. It will be called Fort ZED (zero-energy district). We have a solar farm and wind mills. The bars are even green – Equinox has beer taps made from beetle kill wood and tables made from recycled doors. We can tour New Belgium Brewery – they have a slide. Colorado is the largest beer producer in the nation.
We have bikes that feed energy back into the system, a bike library and a giant compost (food waste) bin that I will dance in – if you come visit. We recycle our beer bottles with a bike courier. Our Garden on Spring Creek – has a pizza garden and tons of hops. 5,000 lbs of food are donated to the Food Bank each season. We can even drive around in the Smart Car. Other awards we received this year:
    • One of the Most Educated City
    • One of the top 25 Best Places to Retire
    • One of the top ten College Towns
    • 6th Best Place to Live in the Nation
    • One of the Most Underrated Cities in the West
    • America’s Safest Drivers in the Nation
    • Designated “Tree City” for 32 years

I really think Larry needs to come to Bryan, Oh and work at Spangler Candy Company and make Dums Dums for an episode of his show. He would have a really good time. They are one of the most famous candies in the world. He needs to e-mail me back so I can tell him exactly who to work the lines with. I don’t work there but my mother-in-law and my sister-in-law both worked there. I have some friends who also work there. It would be a honor for you to come to our community and let us be a part of only in America.

    Thank you let me know

Throughout this awesome design of things you’ll receive an A+ just for hard work. Where exactly you actually misplaced me personally was first on your details. You know, they say, details make or break the argument.. And it couldn’t be much more accurate here. Having said that, permit me tell you what exactly did work. The writing is very engaging which is probably the reason why I am taking the effort to comment. I do not make it a regular habit of doing that. 2nd, while I can certainly see the jumps in logic you make, I am not necessarily convinced of exactly how you seem to unite your points that help to make the final result. For now I will yield to your issue however hope in the near future you actually link the facts better.

What do you think?
