Lamar Odom Hires Robert Shapiro to Fight DUI Charge
Lamar Odom is turning to an old Kardashian family friend to help him fight his recent DUI charge. The out-of-work hoopster has reportedly hired former OJ Simpson lawyer Robert Shapiro to represent him following his Friday morning arrest for suspicion of drunk driving.
Odom, 33, was pulled over by troopers with the California Highway Patrol late last week, for driving too slowly on the freeway in the San Fernando Valley. With rumors rampant that Lamar is battling a crack addiction, police believe that he was under the influence of both drugs and alcohol at the time of his arrest.
After failing a field sobriety test he was promptly arrested. Odom’s licence was subsequently revoked after he refused to undergo chemical testing.
TMZ reports that momager Kris Jenner likely a hand in hiring the legal gun for Lamar’s case. After all, Shapiro and the Kardashian clan go way back. The infamous attorney and Jenner’s ex-husband, the late Robert Kardashian, helped make up the legal “dream team” that help Simpson beat double murder charges in 1995.
Shapiro, known for his plea-bargaining, is expected to insist that Lamar “plead no contest to one count of DUI” in order to avoid jail time and obtain a sentence of probation.
