Lady Gaga Debuts “Applause” VIDEO
Is Lady Gaga’s comeback video worthy of “Applause?” The pop sensation knows no bounds when it comes to her extravagant music videos and her latest effort, the first release from her upcoming disc ArtPop, is a visual feast.
In typical Gaga fashion, the promo transitions from black and white imagery to large choreographed dance numbers, drawing inspiration from the Birth of Venus to an iconic Janet Jackson magazine cover.
Gaga is featured in a variety of wacky costumes. Arty postures and scenarios fill over three minutes of video featuring Gaga in a birdcage, writhing on a mattress, catching knives with her teeth in a cauldron. She even transforms into a black swan/human hybrid.
Gaga debuted the “Applause” video on Good Morning America Monday. The singer also opened up about her recent hip injury which left her wheelchair-bound for months.
“I couldn’t do anything else, but create. I couldn’t dance. I couldn’t walk. I couldn’t anything. I sat on the couch and I worked every day and I wrote all my ideas down and I obsessed, obsessed about the music.”
Mother Monster is set to open the MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday with her first live performance of “Applause.”
