Lady GaGa: “Christina Aguilera Style Stealing Boosted My Fame”

18

Well what do ya know, Lady GaGa has admitted that her burgeoning career got a big boost when Christina Aguilera was accused of stealing her look earlier this year.

The multiplatinum-selling singer performed at the MTV Video Music Awards in September wearing platinum blonde hair extensions, a black catsuit, and a mask, leading many critics to claim she was swagger jacking Lady GaGa’s signature.

“Well, it was very flattering when it happened. She’s such a huge star and if anything I should send her flowers, because a lot of people in America didn’t know who I was until that whole thing happened.

“It really put me on the map in a way, though of course I don’t just want to be remembered for the Christina Aguilera scandal.”

“There are no hard feelings with Christina at all,” Lady says. “What it showed me was, even though I’ve only been on the commercial market for seven or eight months, I’ve really burned graphic images of my visuals onto the irises of my fans.”

“They saw a huge, Grammy-winning star who’s been around for years and they recognized Lady GaGa. That to me is quite an accomplishment.”

Having a baby has left her bitter from her ravaged body and completely out of touch with reality not to mention the music industry. LOL

    oh shut the f'up GaGa.

I like you but for people 2 think Christina stole her look is retarded. Why and how could Christina know about a club singer from the New York when Chrissy is in Cali?? If you guys didn't know GaGa didn't always look like that she had brown hair & was compared to Amy Winehouse so who REALLY is the jocker here?

gaga has been ripping off everyone's styles since she's been in the mainstream. Like miss mosh. Not only did she copy her blonde and purple hair but also her ballerina boots and vinyl clothing. And excuse me, but mosh has been working that style even before gaga hit the mainstream.

She totally has ripped off so many people. She said it herself in an early interview that she 'synthesizes and edits'. Then she says that she believes in artistic karma or something like this. I like her music. Just not HER. I think she is a rich, snobby girl who pretends to be cool to become famous. I think she is full of shit and a big liar. Besides Miss Mosh which I just learned about I've seen a bunch of other stuff like Roisin Murphy, Peaches, Chiki, and I'm sure many more unknowns we don't know about. Her marketing team took these people's creativity and summed it up into being commercial. She is a liar and she admits it.

so gaga believes in karma. how about what goes around comes around! gaga accused christina of ripping off her look. now britney's trying to grab some of gaga's thunder by claiming that gaga's jacking HER style. HOW LOW!! xtina cannot be accused of thunder grabbing becuz gaga wasn't making any noise at the time.

Funny… I think it is the other way around it! I've seen people comparing Gaga to Madonna (huh??? nobody compares to the big queen) or Britney… but the first time I heard of her and googled to find a picture, I just could not avoid the comparison with Christina (Dirrty time).

First off, Gaga isn't the one who accused Christina – the media was. She just responded.

Secondly, just because Christina was famous first, doesn't give her the right to be a complete bitch. I think her comments about Lady Gaga were tasteless, un-classy and shows that she can't handle the fame of a fellow music artists. This isn't the first feud she's had with other singers. And Lady Gaga had nothing but nice things to say about her in return. What a sweetheart. And Christina, you're a bitter old cow. Never heard of her because you don't go on the internet? Yeah, so I suppose you also never listen to the radio, watch TV, read a magazine or a newspaper? Right. Nice try.

Christina had her hair like that first, so Gaga is stupid for saying shes flattered that Christina did that. I like Gagas music, but if your gonna diss Christina than you can kiss my ass. Cus shes made way more hits then she has so far, dont diss a legend sweetiee.

i like both christina and lady gaga but i do remember before lady gaga was famous and when christina released her stripped album i had actullay seen a picture of christina with platinum straight blonde extentions and this was back in 2002 or 2003… and personally i believe from the year 2000 and onwards artists have been copying past artists and themselves so no offensive the music industry in this generation are not originals… their all rip offs

that's exactly what she's not, sorry to say.

I would think the same thing if I hadn't heard her talk.

Even after Christina called her a man, Gaga was being the big person and said that Christina was a beautiful, talented woman.

Anyway, Gaga never claimed to be original, her fans did. Has she not always stated who influenced her? She always does, and that's what I like about her.

    margaret,

    CHRISTINA'S STYLE IS HER OWN?

Right because NOBODY has ever done the good girl look, or that whole bad girl thing she tried to put on. Oh and NOBODY ever tried that 1950s look either! SO original.

I know Gaga isn't the most original thing, but she tries. She tried to be different from any other pop star, and I applaud her for it. She's not original, but she isn't a copy cat either. She takes things from the past, and makes it her own. And she gives credit where it's due.

well her people are just trying to style her in a more up to date manner, so her people who obviously are aware of the Gaga package of style and visuals, event though they are mostly borrowed. But the thing is this image is nearing plagerism, its not Christinas origional look so the she’s been around for years lark fails here. She is trying too hard and seems very insecure that she may be old news, id say shes surrounded by yes people who are fueling this desperate attempt at a comeback.

Do any of you really think this is creative and innovative or just a PR copy and paste job

lady gaga is an influence to art, music, and fashion. christina has been the bubble gum pop star to compete with britney, the dirty girl to make herself relevant again, and 50′s when old hollywood was in. let’s not pretend that christina has any identity. she has one of the best voices ever heard, so why can’t she come up with anything new? at least gaga never insults another artist EVER

  16. On May 8th 2010, JB wrote:

The rookie, Gaga, is winning the PR war over the veteran, Christina. Gaga cleverly allows the comparison rumors to swell while NEVER dissing Christina, whose comments seem defensive & petty. X-Stina should just let the best voice in pop music do all the talking.

I still give Gaga the upper hand for being classy and mature. Good for her.
I love both of them dearly, though.
If they collaborated….I would just die.
They both have such amazing voices.

Christina made these comments long before Gaga had a hit single. These comments are from November 2008 and Just dance was not a big hit until December 2008/January 2009. She wasn’t being a complete bitch, she did not know who Gaga was then but I agree she could have put her comments better.

What do you think?
